Apex Trading Challenge: Every Account Type, Rule and Price Compared

An Apex Trading Challenge is the evaluation step you complete before Apex Trader Funding gives you a funded Performance Account. You pay a one-time fee, hit a profit target without breaching the maximum drawdown, and the account converts to a funded PA once you pass. There are eight challenge options in total: four account sizes ($25K, $50K, $100K, $150K) across two drawdown types (EOD and Intraday). Every challenge gives you 30 calendar days to hit the target, has no minimum number of trading days and carries no consistency requirement during the evaluation itself.

How much does an Apex Trading Challenge cost?

Pricing depends on account size and drawdown type. The $25K challenge starts lower than the $150K challenge, and EOD accounts typically cost more than Intraday accounts at the same size due to the wider drawdown buffer. Apex frequently runs discount promotions that significantly reduce these prices.

Is Apex Trader Funding a monthly subscription?

No. Under the current 4.0 rule set, Apex challenges are a one-time fee, not a recurring monthly subscription. This differs from older 'Legacy' Apex accounts and from how some other prop firms structure pricing, which is a common source of confusion in search results and reviews.

How long do I have to pass an Apex Trading Challenge?

You have 30 calendar days from the date of purchase to hit the profit target. There is no minimum number of trading days required, so you can pass in a single day if you reach the target without breaching the drawdown.

Is there a consistency rule during the Apex Trading Challenge?

No. The consistency rule only applies once you are on a funded Performance Account and requesting payouts. During the evaluation phase itself, there is no requirement to spread profit across multiple days.

What causes an Apex Trading Challenge to fail or be closed?

The most common reason is breaching the maximum drawdown threshold, which ends the challenge immediately regardless of how close you were to the profit target. The challenge also closes automatically if you do not reach the profit target within the 30-day window. Trading rule violations, such as exceeding contract limits, can also result in closure.

Can I run multiple Apex Trading Challenges at once?

Yes. Apex allows traders to purchase and run multiple challenges across different account sizes or drawdown types simultaneously, provided each is paid for separately.

What is the difference between EOD and Intraday challenges?

EOD (End of Day) challenges calculate your trailing drawdown based on your account balance at the close of each trading day. Intraday challenges calculate drawdown in real time throughout the trading session, which generally requires tighter risk management during open positions.
