01 What happened

AI access moves from firms to individual traders.

Match-Trade Technologies has launched Match-Trader MCP for Traders. MCP, the Model Context Protocol, is an open standard for connecting AI applications to outside systems through defined functions. This server connects Match-Trader accounts to supported AI assistants.

It follows a similar integration for firms. The company introduced an MCP for brokers and prop firms the week before, giving access to Match-Trader Manager and Admin data. In August it added AI Skills for its Broker API and CRM API.

02 What is confirmed

What traders can do and how access is controlled.

AreaDetail
Questions it can answerOpen positions, swap costs, portfolio exposure, pending orders and trading history. It can review closed trades, identify loss patterns and find positions without stop-loss orders
Trading actionsOpen, modify and close positions, and create, modify and cancel pending orders
ApprovalThe assistant displays the requested action and its parameters. Compatible clients can require trader approval before execution
Supported clientsClaude, ChatGPT, Cursor and VS Code, with no separate software installation
Access controlTokens linked to individual trading accounts. Permissions can be restricted by function, and tokens can be revoked
Limits and auditRate limits apply at token and user level. API actions remain visible in trading history

The service connects through the Match-Trader API and separates read functions from trading functions. Match-Trade says it does not provide investment advice and that traders remain responsible for approved orders.

03 What remains uncertain

What the report does not say.

  • ✓Which firms offer it. The report does not say which brokers or prop firms have enabled it for their traders, or whether a firm must switch it on.
  • ✓Prop firm rules. It does not say whether funding firms that use Match-Trader allow AI-driven trading or order placement on evaluation and funded accounts. Rules on automation and copying differ by firm.
  • ✓Cost and availability. No pricing or rollout details are given.
04 Why this matters

A new route for AI-assisted orders.

Several firms have launched MCP servers. FundedNext's is read-only, covering account information, payouts, performance and rules, and The5ers' connects its evaluation and Pro accounts to AI clients. Match-Trade's goes further by supporting order actions, with the safeguards of approval prompts, separated read and trade functions and revocable tokens.

For traders on Match-Trader-based prop firms, the open question is not the technology but the rulebook. If an assistant places or manages orders, a firm's rules on automation, expert advisors and copy trading may apply, and the report does not say how any firm treats this.

05 What happens next

What to watch for.

Worth watching: which firms switch the service on for their traders, and whether prop firms publish guidance on using AI assistants to place orders on evaluation and funded accounts.

06 Comparing your options

If you trade futures on a different platform.

AI tools are arriving across trading platforms, with different permissions on each. If you want to compare how futures firms handle automation, it is worth looking at an established firm's rules.
